Cheshire Police Issue Theft Warning
LORRY firms across South Cheshire are being warned to step up security following a string of thefts.
A team of criminals stole nearly a hundred batteries in a week from lorries parked at depots across the area.
A police spokesman explained, "The gang work at night, cutting their way through the gates into the depots. Then they cut the battery-mounts on the lorries and take the batteries away." In some cases they have also siphoned off some diesel and taken that as well.
"The batteries are obviously heavy so it takes several men to carry them and they are probably using a large van as transport." We are warning haulage companies and other operators to be aware and to take extra care over security.
