South Worcestershire Metal Thefts

Police are appealing for information after £26,000 worth of steel and aluminium was stolen from two locations in South Worcestershire.

A trailer containing £20,000 worth of sheet and coiled steel was taken from an address in Crown Lane, Waresley, near Kidderminster between 1630 hours on 22nd February and 0430 hours on 23rd February.

The £5,000 blue Danbur trailer - with the words 'Organically Coated Steels' and the image of a dog holding a red ball in its mouth on both sides - is still missing.

In the second incident, £6,000 worth of aluminium ingots were taken from a curtain-sided white Mann Trucks lorry parked in a lay-by on the A449 near Doverdale Lane between 0030 and 0104 hours on 23rd February.

Police are looking for what is believed to be a white or silver Mercedes box van that left the scene at the time that the theft was discovered and headed north.

"There is nothing to directly link these two thefts, but we are keeping an open mind about them," said a South Worcestershire Police spokesman." Both of the stolen metals are likely to be quickly disposed of - possibly as scrap - so we would urge all metal dealers and metal recovery centres to be extremely wary if offered items that are at all suspicious and to call us if they are at all concerned."
